Questions couples ask

When should we book our wedding photographer?
About 9 to 12 months before, right after your venue. The most popular Iowa photographers book 12 months or more ahead for September and October Saturdays.
Why should we ask about price last?
Prices only mean something once you know the hours, the second shooter, the number of photos and what you get. A lower price with fewer hours can cost more in the end.
What should we give our photographer before the wedding?
Your timeline, a family photo list with names, any must-have shots, and a contact person for the day who knows the families.
How much should we budget for photos and video?
Photography and video together are about 10% of the average wedding budget in The Knot's 2026 study. Use the budget calculator to see it for your total.
